Chapter One: The Trap Door
Once there were two twin sisters. Their names were Lulu and Lilli,
they both had brown hair, and brown eyes (which were very expressive!), a
medium complexion, broad shoulders, and they were both tall. Both of them loved
sports, they both loved books, and most importantly they both loved God. One day when Lilli and Lulu were taking a
walk around their neighborhood they noticed some odd sound coming from behind a
tree. It was a scratching sound that
neither of them could identify. They both looked around to see if anyone was
near, so they could tell them what the sound was. No one, so, afraid to go
look, they both walked on.
“Wonder what that was.” Lulu said what they both were
thinking. Lilli simply shrugged and suggested that maybe they and a group of
their friends could go find out. Lulu shook her head at this idea.
“No, then it wouldn’t be secret, whatever it was. We should
find out what it is, first.” Lulu explained. Lilli agreed, so they both
gathered their courage and walked back to the place where they had heard the
scratching.
“You go first.” Lilli said as she pushed Lulu forward.
“Thanks, Lil.” Lulu said sarcastically as she grabbed her
sisters’ hand and pulled her forward. They peered around the tree. Nothing was their
but a little doorway on the ground.
“Oh, what did I just step on?” Lilli exclaimed as she
discovered the little doorway.
“I-I-I don’t know.” Lulu said.
“Wonder where it leads to, we should find out!” Lulu leaned
down to pull the little handle.
“It’s stuck!” she grunted. By now Lilli was curious as well
so she leaned down with her sister and pulled hard.
“Ugh!” they both grunted as dust came flying up towards
their nose. They both looked down but all they saw was a bright blue light.
They couldn’t see anything but the light and a flight of stairs.
“We should go get Carol.” Lulu suggested. Carol was their
best friend. She had been with them through thick and thin, and they wanted to
share what they had discovered with her. Lulu flipped open her cell phone which
her mother had locked down to only being able to call 9-1-1, herself, and
Carol.
“Carol?” Lulu called her friend. “Hey, meet us over at the
big treehouse, okay? Okay. Bye, Carol!” Lulu looked back at Lilli who had shut
the little door. “Come on, let’s go to the treehouse.”
Chapter
Two: Carol
The treehouse was where the three friends had always met for
meetings, and soon all three of them had arrived. Carol came charging up, she
had been very fast because she was very athletic.
“Alright,” she said. “What’s going on here?”
Lilli explained to her what had happened as they walked back
to the little door. “So then we called you so you could come and see too.”
Lilli finished. Carol nodded and with one big yank pulled
the door open. Then she fearlessly started walking down the stairs.
“This is odd.” she said to Lilli who was coming down after
her.
“What is?” Lilli inquired as she looked down at her friend.
“Well,” Carol replied. “There was laughter! Human laughter,
who lives in this literal hole in the ground?”
Lulu looked frightened. “Did you see anyone human?”
“Well, no actually. I saw animals, mainly. It looked like a
lot of lions, horses, deer, and swans. A little odd, right? Well anyway, the
deer were talking to the lions while the horses and swans danced about in a
funny but graceful manner.” Carol explained.
Lulu nodded her head in thought. “Yes, I wonder if we should
go down there.” She looked very interested. Lilli on the other hand had the
opposite effect.
“What do you mean ‘go down there’?! I wouldn’t go down if
you did my chores for a week!” she shouted.
“Shh! everyone will hear you! What are you doing here? Why
don’t you leave? There is nothing interesting, so you might as well be on-yes I
know! Anyway, you may as well be on your way.” said a friendly voice which none
of them could identify.
Lilli, Lulu, and Carol all looked at each other with white
faces and gasped. Lulu attempted a few stuttered words, but failed to speak.
The trap door shut with a bang! A little voice inside Lilli said “You aren’t
going to just not do anything, are you? Come on! Check it out!” And with that
Lilli pulled open the door and jumped inside, pulling her friends with her!
